Who Is the Partner of Israel’s Finance Minister?

In March of this year, in an interview with the magazine Olam Katan, Israel’s extraordinary Economy Minister and man of faith, Bezalel Smotrich, said that after October 7, economists and professors predicted Israel’s economic collapse.

The exact opposite happened. The shekel kept getting stronger. The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange outperformed every stock market in the world and rose more than 100% in two years of war. The deficit came in lower than expected, lower than in many European countries. And investment kept coming in, especially in high tech.

How do you explain it?

Smotrich, who as a Jew of faith always gives the credit to Boré Olam, summed it up in one sentence: “It is the Ribono shel Olam, the Creator of the world, who is running the economy here.”

And he described how he handled his job in the hardest days of the war: “I said to the Almighty: I am making You my partner. I am putting everything in Your name. From now on, this country’s economy is under Your control.”
