VIOLENCE IN ISRAEL: What is the world waiting for?

Palestinian violence is not slowing down. As of this morning, they are ten Jewish fatal victims of attacks with knives, screwdrivers and cars. Yesterday, this new intifada climbed one step up: a Palestinian terrorist came into a bus with a gun and shot indiscriminately at the passengers, killing three Israelis.

This violence is not spontaneous, it is provoked and incited from social media, from policymakers and also from some mosques. I am attaching a video from MEMRITV where you can see this past Friday how a Muslim cleric in Gaza drew his knife while given a sermon from his pulpit, calling his Palestinian brothers to kill Jews, stab them, cut their throats and tear their bodies apart. ISIS style.

Normally, you would have expected the world to get out of their comfort silence-zone and condemn Palestinian violence and their instigators. Right?

As Bret Stephens wrote on the Wall Street Journal,  “Imagine if a white minister in, say, South Carolina preached this way about African-Americans, knife and all: Would the news media be supine in reporting it? Would we get ‘both sides’ journalism of the kind that is pro forma when it comes to Israelis and Palestinians, with lengthy pieces explaining-and implicitly justifying-the minister’s sundry grievances, his sense that his country has been stolen from him?”

In that case, the entire world would react immediately. The United Nations would condemn racial violence. The European Union, the Pope, all organizations that defend human rights, would raise their voice in protest and repudiation, and so would do the White House and all Presidents of all civilized  countries of the world.

But, as Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu said so eloquently in his recent speech at the United Nations, when it comes to Israel, the world remains silent. There have been no international condemnation, nor voices of condemnation of the Palestinian violence coming from the international human rights organizations .

I return to my initial question: When can we expect the world to condemn the violence in Israel? What is the world waiting for?

I think I know the horrendous answer ….

The world is waiting, patiently, that Israel would react. The world is waiting for Israel or for Israelis to defend themselves. The world is waiting that some Israeli guy would take the law in his own hands and kill his attacker.  Or that Israel would bomb a terrorist training camp and Hamas would announce that two Palestinian children were “brutally killed by the oppressing Jewish regime.” When Israel will defend itself,  the world will react. All newspapers of the world will immediately condemn violence in Israel, in the front page. No one will mention “what” caused this cycle of violence. The main news agencies of the world will repeat the famous mantra: “We condemn the systematic genocide that Israel is carrying out against the Palestinian people”. At that time, we will see colorful pictures of Palestinian civilians who were “deliberately” killed by Israel in the streets of Gaza and Ramallah.  And, of course,  all the international organizations, without exception will raise their voice. The United Nations, the European Union, etc., will condemn, in the best case scenario, the “disproportionate reaction” of the powerful Jewish army against unarmed Palestinian civilians …

Have no doubt, dear reader, that the world will react and condemn violence when Israel will defend itself,
